Sooo yeah, I kinda finished this visual novel this morning and want to give my two cents about it a bit (or call it half-assed review if you wish).

I was hearing one or two good things about this title a few years ago but I did not try it until a few days ago. Only recently did I get interested in it again with the recent Total Eclipse anime. There's also sudden influx of Muv-Luv threads on /a/ from time to time so I decided to give it a go. (Yeah yeah I know, jumping the bandwagon)

This VN consists of two part, Muv-Luv Extra and Muv-Luv Unlimited. You play as Shirogane Takeru, your average main character guy. The Extra part is similar to countless harem eroge. Its setting is normal Japan. There's your osananajimi, sudden love interest, and school life comedy. Muv-Luv Unlimited is, however, set in post-apocalyptic Japan where Alien race pretty much destroyed half of Earth population. There's mecha and some cool shit.

Muv-Luv Extra plays exactly like a normal visual novel do. You have to choose one of  five available heroines. There's nothing sensational about its plot or whatsoever. It just feels okay I guess. The characters are pretty funny (although some are pretty annoying). The romance part was done alright. After you finish with two main heroines route (Meiya and Sumika) you unlocked the second part of Muv-Luv, Unlimited.

In Muv-Luv Unlimited, you wake up one day and realize something is wrong. You get out of your house and find a crapsack world. Turned out the humankind is in the middle of crisis, an alien race called BETA invaded the Earth and destroyed everything in their path. Takeru found out his shool has turned into a military base and all his friends are well-trained soldiers. In short, this is an alternative world which revolves around a hypotetical question "what happens when you put standard harem VN casts into a post-apocalyptic world?"

I find Unlimited to be pretty cool thought it's kinda dragged a bit in some parts. Here you can find cute girls wearing military uniform, eating snakes in wild jungle, sniping with anti-material rifle, and guess what, riding a robot! Yes, the scientists in Unlimited world invented mecha called TSF to fight the BETA. Well, one of the biggest disappointing part is that you don't actually fight the BETA in Unlimited. Unlimited is a world/setting builder part of the Muv-Luv series, while Extra is characters introduction part. The real meat is the sequel which I intend to play next, Muv-Luv Alternative.

To be honest, if you really don't have much time at hand but still want to get into Muv-Luv you can skip Extra and Unlimited altogether and just read through Alternative. Still, almost everyone say that you need to read Extra and Unlimited first if you want to get full experience in Alternative.

Anyway, I can't wait to read Alternative and get all those feels or whatnot (I heard it's pretty depressing). For Muv-Luv itself, I give it a 8.
Oh boy, this isn't gonna end well, is it? Death flags were thrown left and right, so I'm not surprise if death toll will rise up in next arc. This is Akame ga Kill we're talking about. The manga who introduces a new character only to get her killed in the cruelest way (RIP Spear-chan ;_;)

My bet is either Bors and Rabac are gonna kick the bucket. Hell, even Esdese or maybe Chelsea. Both of them have tripped death flags in this chapter.
Either way, I will be pretty sad. This is one of those rare moment where I like the antagonist side as much as the protagonist side. Except for JUSTICE. Fuck JUSTICE. I won't forgive you ever. I hope you die in the most painful way.
Okay, here I go with more mango recommendation. Hailed from the hands of the mighty Yoshitoshi ABe, comes Ryuushika Ryuushika. The best way to describe this manga is "It's like Yotsuba except it's Yotsuba on drugs". Seriously.

Behold:
I don't know about you, but personally I enjoy this more than Yotsubato. Maybe it's because of ABe influence on me. Maybe because of its beautiful full-color pages. Maybe because of Ryuushika is just an awesome character.

Might as well telling you that I'm a big fan of ABe's artwork. From Haibane Renmei to Lain to Texhnolyze. I love this guy's art.

Anyway if you like Yotsubato or other "little girls doing little girls things" manga you'll pretty much like Ryuushika Ryuushika. Go grab it at /a/non scanlations who is doing other cool manga such as Appergio of Blue Steel and 7O3X.
Oh boy, here we go again. Apparently those guys at SHAFT heard all your pleas who want more mahou shoujo animu. Gee, I wonder what their next project will be like.

Never trust a cute mascot character again
Dem designs, man. Brought to you by the God Kantoku himself.

inb4 people start comparing it to Madoka. Honestly I'm looking forward to this as much as I'm looking forward to new season of Hakuoki. But hey, I'm gonna watch it anyway. At least for its architectural design.
You may gaze upon this beautiful visage. Done? Good, because I'm about to tell you about a manga featuring the beauty above.

The manga starts with a fairly common scene, MC summoned a succubus to help him get ridden of his virginity. How lucky! I mean, who wouldn't want to lose his virginity to a devil! Anyway, the succubus he summoned was pretty cute and he was waiting eagerly to start the, uhm, ritual. Then here's come the interesting twist: the cute devil is actually a boy! You think that only makes MC more looking forward to do it, well you're wrong.

The pact between MC and the devil already made, but because he refused to fullfil his contract with the devil, the devil won't leave him alone. The rest of the manga is about how the devil wants to get into MC's pants. Hilarity ensues. Just imagine this as the reverse of what happens in My Balls except the devil is a boy. Daga otoko da! Well, there's actually nothing wrong with wanting to bone a cute trap. Because everything is better with a p0n0s.

The other day I just completed the 3rd season of Legend of the Galactic Heroes. The third part of this series contains of 32 episodes which spans from episode 55 to 86. I have to admit it completely blew my mind just like its two previous seasons. I will write my impression here. Proceed with caution because there will be SPOILERS.

One of my first reaction is that it started off relatively slow, different from the previous seasons. If you come to expect glorious spaceship battles which one of the strong point of this show, be prepared to hold your patience. Most of the preceeding episodes were focused on political stuff and likes. The first big battle didn't occur until halfway through the show, that was episode 70-ish. Though this is pretty understandable, because the climax of the 2nd season is the peace treaty between the Empire and the Alliance.

So the first few episode told about how Reinhard (with fabulous long hair) as the new Kaiser handled most of his Empire political issues. On Yang's side, following his retirement he didn't get enough freedom he had expected. The Alliance government kept snuffing around his life and didn't even give him a rest. Julian also got the spotlight he deserved. He, with several friends, went through journey to Earth to collect some information on Earth Cult.

There were also several minor plot such as Reuenthal's scandal, the relationship between Schenkopp and his (hot) daughter, how Reinhard needs to find a wife and Reinhard's sickness. I assume all of these plot points wiill somehow related to the next and final season. Oh yeah, in this season we must bid our farewell to one of the most important character in this series. There are also innumerable losses in both sides, which included some likeable characters.

Like usual, there is never a dull moment in this show. All of the episodes are always either entertaining enough, thought provoking, or both. There are always shocking twists in almost all of the episodes. I cannot argue that my favorite episode is the one which has spaceship battle in it. Even though this season of LOGH lacks of space battle in term of quantity but it makes up in quality.

That being said, I am now certain that Legend of Galactic Heroes is really a masterpiece. And I don't even have to finish the show to say that. Now that it only has around 24 episodes more to finish, I think I need to take a break from this show a little to savor more of glorious episodes ahead. Sieg Kaiser!
Not sure why but apparently there's new trend recently about how some old anime get revived. Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, Sailor Moon and more recent announcement involving Initial D. Actually if you can count previous season there's Saint Seiya and Lupin too.

Jojo's Bizzare adventure is a pretty popular manga with cult following. It has been adapted to several OVAs but it never gets a proper series adaptation. I've been meaning to get into this series so maybe this is gonna be a starting point. The series will be aired in Fall.

My old favorite series Sailor Moon also returns in Summer 2013. Anyone who started watching anime in 90's must be familiar with this title. It was also one of my first experience with Japanese animation. Back in the days when anime were called cartoons, Sailor Moon was one of the very first cartoon that captured my heart with its beautiful character designs (lol), along with Wedding Peach thus these two were responsible of making me fall in love with 2d characters. True story.

The most recent news is Initial D gets a new anime. 'Tis also a great news. I watched it on local TV a few years ago and I really liked it along with its soundtrack.
NO ONE SLEEP IN TOKYO
ALL NIGHT CROSSIN THE LINE
NO ONE QUIT THE RADIO
TOKYO IS ON FIREEEEEEE

Oh excuse me. Anyway, I'm glad with these news, I hope more people will watch the old series too. The question is: will we ever get a new season of Kino no Tabi?
